The Folklore and Historical Museum of Ambelakia was inaugurated in 2001 by the then President of the Hellenic Republic Konstantinos Stefanopoulos, summarizing the 10 year long efforts of the villagers and their friends for the preservation of the cultural heritage of .
Using the renovated “Molas” mansion, which can be found a few meters away from the village square, the people of the Museum exhibit a large collection of folklore items such as: utensils, tools from small enterprises, fragments of murals from the mansions, clothing items, old photographs and historical documents related to the work, the operations and the life of the villagers.
The museum receives tens of visitors from both Greece and abroad on a daily basis and the visitors can be shown around in the spaces of the mansion and observe the roofed veranda, the everyday winter room that was used as a workshop, the “festive” winter room intended for the visitors, the kitchen, the parlor, the bedroom with the bride’s dowry, the historical archive , as well as the spaces with a variety of tools originating from small enterprises. |
